Yoga Nidra - Sleep Yoga
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation into a state of deep yogic sleep where you float with consciousness. Between sleeping and waking states of being. In this practice, your body will be completely relaxed, either laying on the back or in a supported position with props as you may desire. As we move through the practice I will guide you through 5 layers of being, the physical body, the mental body, the breath body, the witness body and bliss body. For those who will be practicing sleep yoga for the first time, think of the practice as a relaxing body scan you might do in a traditional yoga class during savasana and then apply that not only to the physical body but to the other four bodies, scanning the mind and breath, finding awareness and witnessing the interplay between the mind body and breath, and finally reminding ourselves of light, love and bliss to help heal and dissolve held tension in our being.

Studies have shown that yoga nidra helps to balance the autonomic nervous system which can help with regulation and reaction to stress. In additions favorable changes in Heart Rate Variability were shown when practicing yoga nidra*.
