Basic Vinyasa

Yoga for the Inflexible in These Crazy Times: This is a basic vinyasa class with extensive stretching and gentle care for people not used to bending and twisting. It is a safe class for those with fresh injuries, and a wonderful place for both beginners and experienced practitioners to find solace and strength in the body.

Merissa Nathan Gerson is a Sivananda certified yoga teacher with a background in Shamatha meditation. Yoga, the Americanized version, has helped her with major injuries from a car crash and has offered her a resting place in the body, and a time to settle the mind. She trained with teachers coast to coast and is constantly working to understand the body, and how to move safely through the world with restrictions from spinal surgery. She attended Naropa University, a Buddhist school, for her MFA in Writing and has an MA in Jewish Studies from the Graduate Theological Union. Merissa comes to the mat with a wealth of spiritual knowledge to share. In her other lives she is a writer, and she speaks nationwide on inherited trauma. For more about Merissa, please visit
