Mindfulness Meditation - Jackson Van Raan

In this class we will explore various mindfulness practices as we look at ways to meditate, connect with ourselves, reduce stress, and revitalize ourselves with our breath. We will explore sitting meditations, visualizations, movements, breathwork, and mindful communication, ending with a discussion about our practice and foundational concepts of yoga, and buddhism. Optional to bring a journal. 

Jackson Van Raan is a 27-year-old, native to the Island. He is offering this meditation series to show others the many ways to meditate and how to incorporate a mindfulness practice, or simply a mindful awareness, into your life. His goal is to provide an open space for us to share and learn from each other. He will bring a different activity to each class, followed by a discussion.

There is magic when people gather with the shared intention of healing. There is power in the act of appreciating and connecting with the natural world. There is love in the earth. There is wellness is the water and peace in the air. When we create space for our own self care, we create space to offer care to others. When we heal ourselves, we heal the world.

Take some time for deep relaxation and healing with the support of Crystals. We will share space together for release and and renewal of our inner resources. Breathe deep and allow yourself to be supported. Crystals are our high vibration allies and each stone carries its own particular energy of healing, activating those same qualities within us. We will practice long held, gentle poses combined with guided crystal meditations for healing. Restorative Yoga is accessible for anyone, and enjoyable for all. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

"Movement, Meditation, & Writing Workshop" with Talia, focusing on self inquiry & exploration.

In this 2 hour workshop we will begin by doing some simple movements & breathing techniques to help facilitate in settling in to our bodies & the present moment. You will then be given a series of writing prompts, focusing on ways you see yourself, both in the world in relation to others, & within your own heart & mind. This time is yours & there will be an option to share your writing after each prompt, but there is no requirement to do so. 

We will end our time together with a guided meditation. 

Please bring something to write on, such as a journal or note pad, a writing utensil & an open mind. I'll provide the rest!

Talia Luening was born & raised here on Martha's Vineyard & has lots of personal experience writing, reading, moving & meditating! Talia is currently a bookseller at Bunch of Grapes bookstore, where she has access to one of the things she loves most in the world: books! This practice is designed to bring consciousness and mindfulness to each movement with intention. Vinyasa builds strength and flexibility of the mind, body, and spirit.
